Description: The Mercy Heart Center has two floors and is a freestanding heart and vascular care facility. The facility is Linn County’s largest and most comprehensive facility. It offers integrated patient-centered care and top-tier technology.

Achievements: The Workspace team created an innovative center that was thoughtful, warm, welcoming, and comprehensive of all cardiac needs on time and within the budget.

Cassia Harmony Gardens

Location: Maplewood, Minnesota

Project Size: 196,280 sq ft

Description: The Cassia Harmony Gardens campus boasts a variety of living spaces including 14 Assisted Living units, 70 Assisted Living/Independent Living units, 12 Care Suites, 48 Skilled Nursing facilities, and 16 Transitional Care units. Our goal was to craft a faith-based neighborhood environment where residents could access a wealth of amenities, ensuring they feel truly at home.

Achievements: Our dedicated team curated an all-inclusive FF&E package which covers resident room furniture, common spaces, a chapel, salon, office and outdoor furniture, captivating artwork, elegant accessories, window treatments and distinctive signage. Despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 era, we tackled the project via remote means. Utilizing platforms like Microsoft Teams and Zoom, we were able to efficiently drive communication and decision-making with minimal face-to-face meetings.

River Hills Surgery Center - Iowa Ortho

Location: Grimes, Iowa

Project Size: 68,000+ sq ft

Description: The River Hills Surgery Center – Iowa Ortho project encompassed over 68,000 square feet and included the complete outfitting of a state-of-the-art surgery center with 10 operating rooms. In addition to the clinical spaces, the project involved furnishing the waiting room, administrative offices, and surgery support areas such as pre- and post-op bays and nurse stations. Our team played a critical role in space planning, furniture finishes, specifications, and programming to ensure the environment was both functional and welcoming.

Achievements: This project was delivered on time and on budget, with careful attention given to finishing details and furniture selection to fully support Iowa Ortho’s operational and patient-care goals. We successfully created a warm and comforting atmosphere at their new surgery center by offering diverse seating options and postures in the waiting area—enhancing comfort for both patients and their care partners. From concept to completion, we helped unify the design vision with purposeful furnishings that reflect care, comfort, and functionality.

unity point - eyerly ball

Location: Des Moines, Iowa

Project Size: 15,000 sq ft

Description: The Unity Point – Eyerly Ball Behavioral Health Access Center is a 15,000 sq. ft. facility designed to provide patients with a full continuum of mental health services in one accessible location. Offering counseling, peer drop-in support, and on-site pharmacy services, the center ensures a holistic approach to care while prioritizing patient comfort and dignity. Collaboration with both the UPH facility team and the Eyerly Ball care team was central to the project, allowing thoughtful space planning, interior finishes, and furniture specifications that align with the needs of providers and the people they serve. The result is a space that is not only functional and high-performing but also warm and inviting, supporting patients in feeling confident in the care they receive.

Achievements: The project team’s greatest achievement was creating a space that balances beauty, performance, and compassion while meeting the needs of both patients and providers. By working closely with the facility and care teams, every design choice—from programming and layout to finishes and furnishings—was made with the patient experience at the forefront. The result is an environment that fosters healing and accessibility while supporting staff in delivering exceptional care. This collaborative effort highlights how design can directly impact well-being, creating a welcoming space that reflects Unity Point and Eyerly Ball’s commitment to community health.

ames surgery center

Location: Ames, Iowa

Project Size: 31,000 sq ft

Description: The Ames Surgery Center is a state-of-the-art outpatient facility developed through a partnership between Mary Greeley Medical Center and McFarland Clinic. Encompassing approximately 31,000 square feet, the center was designed to support patient comfort, efficiency, and care excellence. The space features a warm and inviting waiting area along with 33 private rooms, creating a soothing environment for patients and their families. Thoughtful design elements and durable finishes reflect the center’s commitment to quality and long-term functionality. Notably, Ames stands out as the only community with a surgery center between Story County and Mason City—further emphasizing its regional importance in providing advanced outpatient care.

Achievements: Workspace successfully delivered the Ames Surgery Center project on budget while meeting the high standards of quality and durability expected by both Mary Greeley Medical Center and McFarland Clinic. Every design and material choice was made with precision to balance cost efficiency and long-term value. The project exemplifies collaboration, careful planning, and execution—resulting in a facility that not only meets healthcare needs but also enhances the patient and provider experience.
